It's not that simple, to keep things simple

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." — Leonardo da Vinci
Sometimes keeping things simple is the best way to go. But it ain't that easy to do, right? As a result we (especially women) tend to complicate things.
So how can we simplify? the simple answer to this is practice.
There is a big difference between simple and easy.
And keeping things simple - isn't necessarily easy. For some it might even be quite hard. So what is the difference?
Easy means something that’s achieved without effort.
And Simple means something that’s uncomplicated and easily understood.
So for example meditating is simple - you have to sit down and focus on your breath; but if you ever tried it you know it isn't easy to do.
It's also true for practicing gratitude or acceptance that we are the one responsible for our life & wellbeing and not others - these things are simple, but might be tough.
Simplicity demands discipline, and that’s not easy.
I'll share a fun fact about me, since a very young age I find deciding what I want to order in a restaurant super hard!!! and let's be honest, it's simple - you look at the menu, pick something and Voila... but for me it's not effortless.
The thing with simple & easy, is that actually, like my restaurant example, we tend to make things more complicated for ourselves (pick something alreadyyyyyy!)
As expats, it happens a lot! as expat women - even more.
We ask ourselves too many questions that complicate things for us, or over analyze situations, we tell ourselves stories & excuses instead of keeping things simple.
So what can we do differently?
Practice simplicity.
It demands discipline, and maybe changing some of our mechanisms - so that we can shift toward a day to day that is less complicated .
✨ Ask yourself less questions - and simpler ones "Yes" or "No".
✨ Minimize choices - it will help.
✨ Declutter - when we have less things in our room, office, kitchen . . . it helps us declutter thoughts as well.
✨Put healthy boundaries - it will help you avoid situations of "Should I . . ." or "What will they think of me if . . . "
✨ Focus on the present - and the information/priorities you have right now at this exact moment so you can make a simple decision.
On a last note, it's your life! your choices! and you're actions.
You don't have to sit around waiting for someone to make things simple for you (that's too easy). But you can take action starting today to make your life simpler.
Sending positive vibes your way ✨
