We are stronger together, do you agree?

"Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean." Ryunosuke Satoro
This week we celebrated the International Women's Day, and we had the chance to do it together with our community members.
As women, we still have things to achieve, mountains to conquer and missions to accomplish - but together, we are stronger.
Women over history created revolutions, spoke up, demanded rights, protested across all parts of the world for equality and their place in society.
And let's be honest, those activities, are super important & relevant in our society today, as there's still a lot to be done.
We could go on and on, mentioning the strong women in history, and those of today. The women who made an impact, changed our lives forever, empowered others to follow their path. But we'd rather talk today about the power of women getting together.
Michelle Obama once said: "Choose People Who Lift You Up" - and we 100% agree with it.
Truth is, as individuals we can do a lot, but as a group - even the sky isn't a limit (we got to space, right?! and it wasn't a one man job). But the key is to be surrounded by people who lift you up, who makes you better, who inspire you and who brings positivity into your life.
As women living abroad, we all face various challenges. We have those common challenges everyone faces, plus we have those common women challenges, plus we have this extra layer of challenges because we are expats. The struggles is real!
And as strong as we are (which we know you are), we don't always want to deal with it all on our own.
As a result, it's no surprise that women-only communities are becoming increasingly popular around the world. We want to get together and share our experiences, as well as be heard, understood, and supported by one another.
Contrary to popular beliefs, women can be women’s biggest supporters. Judgement and enmity are the result of centuries of competing with one another. However, when women gather with other women who share similar values and goals, they can push each other to be more successful and happy simply by encouraging and motivating one another.
When we first moved to a new country (which we've done a couple of times), we rapidly started looking for our "team" - those people who we can connect with. Usually we started with the easy options - a shared language, colleagues at work, the neighbors next door. . . But it's only later that we realized those connections aren't necessary the right one for us. Some of them were - and we are so happy to have those people in our lives, but some, were just not "our people".
So what can you do to surround yourself with the right people?
✨ Ask yourself questions like: "Is this person lifting me up?", "Do they make me feel good about myself?", "Do I like myself when I'm with them?" . . . If the answer to these kind of question isn't positive, then they are probably not your perfect match. We don't say you should stop talking to them, but make sure you have enough people in your life that do makes you feel good!
✨ Create connections based on your core values. It doesn't have to be 100% fit, but if you share similar values, you'll both live in alignment to yourself - therefor it will make this connection stronger & healthier.
✨ Join communities of like minded women, that are positive, non-judgmental and empowering. There are plenty of communities out there, you just got to find those that suit you best. Remember the idea is to be stronger together.
On a last note, we have to admit that we feel empowered and inspired by our community members! You ladies are amazing! We can't thank you enough for being here, lifting us up, and allowing us to be part of your journey abroad.
Sending positive vibes your way ✨
